My Bookshelf

Reading is my favorite downtime activity. If I have 10 minutes to spare, reading is my first choice over anything else. These are my current favorites.

The Dutch House –
I have been a huge fan of Ann Patchette since reading Bel Canto over a decade ago. Patchette weaves beautiful, often heart-wrenching stories. I never miss her new books. 

 

 

Books in our Current Bedtime Rotation

We read to Doodlebug and Ladybug every night for 20-30 minutes. We read together as a family, so these books are mostly picture books and younger reader books.

Diary of a Worm –
Everyone in our home loves Worm! This is the first book that Doodlebug asked a librarian to help him find. I was amazed. He had always asked me to choose. Apparently, he had read this on the school computer and wanted to share it with Ladybug. Yay for digital books!

 

 

Big(ger) Kid Books –

Doodlebug is working on independent reading. These are books that we’re currently encouraging or working through with him.

 

Galaxy Zack –
This series has been a favorite for Doodlebug! The futuristic adventures and new friendships with aliens have really kept his attention. 

 

The Bad Guys – 
This was the first chapter book that Doodlebug actually asked me to buy. The silliness of these wannabe bad guys is exactly what he needs to stay engaged in reading.
